2D Asset Design - Concept Art Project

My 2D Asset Design - Concept Art project I completed in my second year at NUA (Year 1) in 2023 where we explored creating 2d asset designs using different techniques, programs and knowledge.

Character Designs.
Creating some character concepts before creating the assets so I can create some asset designs that link with the character and their story thus making a visually interesting project.

Final character design.
This character and whole project was inspired by Japanese mythology and royalty with some extra inspiration from European history specifically French royalty although this is more seen within the some of the assets.

Asset 1 Initial designs.
This first asset is a masquerade mask that is worn by my character who is a dragon prince. This is subtly portrayed in all of my assets alongside his story.

Asset 2 Initial design.
This second asset is a crown, also worn by the character.
I looked at portraying more of the dragon themes in this asset.

Asset 3 Initial design.
This final asset is a chalice, this asset is used more to tell a more in depth story about the character and their backstory with subtle storytelling elements within its details.

Asset 1 Further development.
Here I looked at further developing my asset through a multitude of different iterations experimenting with different shapes, details etc.

Further iterations of the crown asset, focusing on shapes and their impacts on the portrayal of the character.

Key Frame Concepts.
Initial sketches of my keyframe that will hold all of my assets within one scene for my final.

Further key frame development.
Here I further developed my initial designs with more iterations as well as experimented with using greyscale to think more about depth within the difference between foregrounds and backgrounds.

Final KeyFrame.
My final completed key frame painted on Procreate with all of my assets included to complete the story of my project.
